Companies House: New ID Verification Rules
Changes are on the way for company directors and people with significant control (PSCs), as part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. These new measures are being introduced to improve corporate transparency and help prevent fraud.
🔹 What’s Changing?
-
From Autumn 2025, all new directors and PSCs must verify their identity before appointment.
-
Existing directors and PSCs will have 12 months to complete the identity verification process.
-
From Spring 2026, only authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs) will be allowed to file documents with Companies House on behalf of clients.
🔹 What You Need to Do
Directors and PSCs will be able to verify their identity directly with Companies House, or through an authorised provider.
We’re in the process of becoming a registered ACSP, which means we’ll soon be able to complete identity verification for our clients. We’ll collect the required ID, verify the details, and submit everything on your behalf — making the process simple and fully compliant.
